Florida Can't Come Soon Enough

At this point we're just about half way through our winter practices and lifts.  Every day we get closer to the day we leave for Ft. Pierce, Florida (March 4 at 6 p.m.).  I think I can speak for the whole team by saying none of us can wait to finally get outside on the field.  We get a lot of work done inside but it's limited since we practice in the field house.

Recently we started 'throwing live' for the first time.  We put a mound in the drop down cage so the pitchers get to actually get the throw to the batters.  It's difficult to get used throwing and hitting in such a confined space but we are all getting used to it.

Throughout these winter practices we have a total of 16 6 a.m. sessions.  This upcoming week will be our second full week.  This past week has all been night sessions (8 to 10 p.m.) so it will be difficult adjusting to waking up at five in the morning again.  It's all worth it in the end though because we've had good practices everyday and it's definitely going to help us in the season.
Below is a picture of practice the other night.

  1. I hate practicing inside. We can only do hitting stations so many times before it all just gets so repetitive. We only have 2 weeks of 6am's so we got lucky!
